Why I Don't Use WA Hosting!

I've had several Wealthy Affiliate members PM me asking "Why don't you use WA hosting?", so I decided to create this post and explain why.

Well first  off I've been a member of Wealthy Affiliate since April 2007, back then WA didn't offer free web hosting and had far less tools and features then they do today. Kyle & Carson are both great guys and everything they do/add to WA is designed to help you and I succeed online. Lets face it, one thing we all need sooner than later is web hosting.

Before you read on I want to make one thing clear. WA hosting is perfectly capable of running websites and building your business, all I'm doing is pointing out some of the reasons why I don't use WA hosting.

Reason 1: Already Have A Great Web Host!

Over 2 years ago I switched hosting company and joined Hostgator, I've never had any problems with the service and it cost me approximately $8 US per month. I currently have 26 websites many of them have streaming video that's not allowed on WA hosting.

Reason 2: What If I Leave Wealthy Affiliate?

If I ever left Wealthy Affiliate I'd need to find a new web host and transfer 26 websites over, backup all databases, change all DNS setting. I'm guessing to switch all 26 sites over it would take me a full day 8+ hours.

Note: I'll never leave WA unless I get kicked out   K&C pay me far more than I pay them every month, so if your a WA member start driving traffic to WA.

Reason 3: Far Less Features Than Hostgator & No Cpanel

Wealthy Affiliate hosting has far less features and options available, they also use Plesk and not Cpanel, my personal opinion is Cpanel is much better and user friendly. With Hostgator I can view my website stats via 3 different scripts in the Cpanel, you can instantly update stats unlike WA that only updates once per day.

Reason 4: Support – If I Need Help I Want It Now Not Later!

Support, now I rarely need any support but that's because I have more experience in this area, if I used Wealthy Affiliate hosting and require support, my option are either contact Kyle & Carson then wait for a response or search/post a message in the forum.

Reason 5: Shared IP & Server Load

Currently ever single website using WA hosting is sharing the same IP address 74.53.174.242 and more than likely using the same server, meaning if some websites hosted on WA hosting all of a sudden received huge amounts of traffic, it's going to affect all other websites speed/load time. It's also possible that the IP 74.53.174.242 could get blacklisted if someone created adult or spam type website.

My current plan with Hostgator also uses a shared IP, but I'm pretty sure it's shared with far less people. I also have the option purchase a Dedicated IP for $2per month or just upgraded to a business plan.

Reason 6: Wordpress – Easier To Install & Run With Hostgator!

Wordpress, I'm a big fan of WP but setting up and using WP on Wealthy Affiliate hosting isn't an easy task, WP admin area features don't work unless you create some security holes. The One-Click WP installation installs version 2.0 so that's no good.

With Hostgator I can install WP 2.8.6 using Fantastico within about 20 seconds, login to my blog and upgraded to the latest version with 2 clicks.

Reason 7: Need More Reasons?

If you need more reasons then I can give you more, but I'm guessing you see my point. Wealthy Affiliate free hosting is fine to get you going especially if you haven't started making sales. Once you start making sales then I strongly consider getting a different web host.

My Experience At Wealthy Affiliate

Wealthy Affiliate is the #1 reason I’ve had success making money online. I joined WA over 2 years ago as you can see from screen shot of the members area on the left, in the top right corner it gives you the date I joined and how many forum posts I’ve made.
