Why I Recommend Hostgator Over Wealthy Affiliate’s Free Hosting

Want To Know Why I Use & Recommend Hostgator?

Watch the video below:

As you probably know Wealthy Affiliate provides all members with free website hosting, this is great for people just starting out, but it currently has PHP running in Safe Mode. So if you intend on installing and running WordPress or anything that uses PHP then this is going to cause a few problems.  Google : "php safe mode on"  for more information on this.

I feel bad pointing this out because Kyle & Carson are both great people and only trying to help build our businesses, I'm sure at some point they will change this because they know how popular and powerful wordpress is for affiliate marketers.

If you've checked out the Wealthy Affiliate hosting forum section, I'm sure you've seen that I help out when member have problems, I've even create many different resources covering the common hosting problems.

I've been using Hostgator for almost 3 years now and highly recommend them because the support, services and price is A+.

As I pointed out in the video I'm not allowed to offer bonuses for signing up via my affiliate link, but if you do sign up via my link I'm going to offer my own personal support.

What type of support can I get from you Craig?

Basically you can email or PM me when ever you want, with any hosting or website creation type questions/problems. Maybe you need a website transferred over, software script installed, help customizing a blog, editing images, hosting/creating videos, what ever it is you can contact me, odds are I'll be able to help, if not I can definitely point you in the right direction.

Just taking to myself to make sure the "Notify me of followup comments via e-mail" works, using the plugin called :  Subscribe To Comments

    Hi,
I am considering moving to Hostgator, most especially because I appreciate the help you provide via WA and directly.
But, before I proceed, which one would you recommend? Baby plan or the business plan?
Considering that the main difference between them is :
    1. Free Dedicated IP for the business plan
    2. Free Private SSL
    3. Own Toll-Free

What are the functions of the 3 things listed above and what are their advantages?

    Thanks.
    Samuel.

  4. Welshy says:

    Hi Samuel,
Well first off I personally use the BABY plan and that's what I would recommend to get started.
You can always upgrade the plan if needed.

In regards to the 3 things you listed, I'll try explain for you.

    ———-

1: Dedicated IP – This means you get your own IP, only websites that you create/add will be running on this IP.
With a baby plan it's a Shared IP, so you are sharing the IP with a few other people that have a BABY plan.
WA Hosting has ever single person sharing the same IP

2: Private SSL – I don't fully understand, it's related to having your own shopping cart and checkout (i think), but there are plenty of
other site like paypal, 2checkout etc that can safely and securely handle this part.

3: Toll-Free - A free toll-free number for your web site and business.

  5. Finding a hosting company is all about one that works for you. If you look up reviews for any web host online, you'll find both positive and negative ones. I would recommend picking a big one and sticking with it if it works for you.

  6. Ah, I’m glad you posted this. I was going to post something like this but now I don’t think I’ll bother. Do you mind if I link to this post from my livejournal? My visitors might like to read it too. Thanks, Victoria

  7. Right now I don't have any plans of using the hosting inside WA. Didn't know about the PHP Safe Mode issue but I'm glad I don't have to deal with it. Personally I think HostGator really eats up the competition. Thanks for this info on WA's hosting Welshy.

  9. Steve says:

I'm a WA dropout but you helped me all the time there so I am back to get you some commish with Host Gator. If I have quesitons how do I contact you?

  10. Welshy, Support is key point here. When your site has some problems, people at hostgator will happily assist you. You can't expect that good support from WU. Another thing, if i don't want to continue at WU, I lose all my hosting accounts? Moving from one to another is always pain. So that's always true, site mush be hosted by professional hosting company only.

  11. Thanks for the heads up about Safe Mode. That is a really generous offer of support. That really sweetens the deal since HostGator is such a great host.

Hostgator is great. The only thing I don't like is when our traffic requirements increase, they will suspend you and tell you that you must switch to their more powerful, more expensive package. Quite normal, but the reason sometimes wasn't clear. Still love them though.

  13. I am a big fan of HostGator as their support has always been good – even when the problem was not theirs.
