Welcome to my “How To Build A Website From Scratch” page. On this page you’re going to find a few different options on building a website of your own. But before I get into that let me quickly explain a little about myself and why I’m doing this.
I’ve been building websites for the past several years and pretty much just learn as I go. My favorite CMS platform to build a website is WordPress. It’s one of the most popular online for building a website.
In 2013 I started building websites for local businesses in my area. All businesses need a website even the ones that say they don’t. So I decided that I’d offer them this service and do something I enjoy doing.
How I Got Started With Video Tutorials
I’m not sure about you but I’m visual learner, always have been and always will be. If you show me how to do something via a video tutorial I’ll have no problem repeating the process. Hand me a text book of instructions and that’s a different story.
In 2007 I created and uploaded my very first screen capture video to YouTube, it was promoting a website I’d joined called Wealthy Affiliate, sadly my account was shut down a few years later because of background music I’d added to a few videos.
Fast forward a few years and I started to create tutorial type videos showing members of Wealthy Affiliate how to use the hosting and perform other website related features. I believe it was at this point I realized that my video tutorials were actually helping people.
I then created myself a new YouTube account and started creating videos for YouTube, Wealthy Affiliate and my own websites. Knowing that I’m helping others is a big reason why I do this.
How To Build Your Own Website
Understanding that not everyone can afford to have a custom website built, I decided to create a full length video tutorial that would show people how to build a website from scratch. That way I can help many other people like yourself who want to create their own website or blog without having to pay a professional company $1,000’s of dollars. As I mentioned in the beginning you have a few options when it comes to building a website, and I want you to know that which ever option you take you can come to me for help.
- Option #1 Follow my step by step tutorial, but you will need to purchase a domain and hosting. Your own .com domain will cost around $10 for one year. Hosting varies from $5 to 10 per month.
- Option #2 Create a free siterubix website and become a member of the Wealthy Affiliate community. No domain or hosting account required, zero investment.
Option 1: Step By Step Website Tutorial
In the video below I’m going to take you by the hand and show you how to get your own domain and hosting account setup, then I’m going to cover how to create a complete website using WordPress as a platform.
And remember not only am I going to show you how to build a website, I’m also offering you my own personal support. So if you decide to make a website from scratch following my video tutorial and then run into any kind of problems, I’m going to try my best to help you out.
Now I must warn you that I can’t teach you how to make a website in 5 or 15 minutes. This video is around 1 hour and 24 minutes long, so I recommend that you grab yourself a coffee plus a pen and paper to take notes. It’s also probably a good idea to bookmark the page/video so you can return later to continue watching should you run out of time and not see all the video.

Do You Really Need A Domain & Hosting?
Well, if you’re following along with the above video and option #1 then the short answer is yes. However, if you don’t have any money to invest you can checkout option #2 below.
The domain and hosting account is key with any website. If you own your domain, you own and control what you display when someone visits the domain. The hosting is another key part because it hosts the content of your website and delivers it to people who visit your domain.
I use and recommend Hostgator to everyone who needs hosting and the simple reason for this is because it’s who I use, if I didn’t like them or find any value, then I wouldn’t be using in the first place. In the “How To Build A Website From Scratch” video you’ll see that I show you how to join Hostgator and apply some coupon codes, you just need to figure out if it’s worth getting $9.95 off or 25% off total checkout.
If you wish to use my personal Hostgator coupons please enter one of the following.

Do You Offer Extra Help Or Have Other Videos?
Of course I do, but remember I can’t mind read so always let me know if you need help or have question, if you’re working on a website and what help, don’t be afraid to show me what you’re working on. As for videos, I have many already created on my Youtube channel and within the Wealthy Affiliate community that have been published as training tutorials.
If you have questions or need help please ask me.
Option 2: A Free SiteRubix WordPress Website With Complete Training
If you want to build business or a website that’s going to make you money, then option two is a great way to get started without spending a single penny. Not only that but you’ll also be joining a community that I’ve been a member of since 2007. So I’m still going to be there to help you however I can.
Going with option 2 does has its own pros and cons. The biggest benefit is that you don’t need to invest any money to build a website or access the community and in-depth training. The downside is that you can only use a siterubix subdomain and you only have a selection of website themes to pick from.
To get started with a free siterubix website, I recommend you watch this short video I’ve created then simply see if your domain selection is available below:
