It’s super easy to remove comments from your wordpress posts or pages when you know how, but for some reason wordpress hidden one of the options by default.
The following video will show you how to disable them on pages and posts, but for your convenience I’m going include details and screenshots below.
Removing Comments From WordPress Posts And Pages
To remove comments from individual pages or posts you need to load the post/page editor page. Once the page loads click on the “Screen Options” tab in the top right corner.
Doing so will reveal different options that you can display or hide from the page editor. To disable comments you need to add a check-mark to the discussion box as seen in following screenshot.
If you then scroll down below the content editor you’ll find some new options. Here you can select whether you want to display comments and trackbacks or remove them, if you un-check the boxes, comments will be removed from the post or page once you click the publish or update button.
In regards to the “screen options” you’ll notice a few different option on pages and posts, some themes and plugins also add additional options here too.
Removing Comments From Multiple Posts Or Pages The Easy Way
If you have large amounts of published pages or posts and would like to stop comments from being display on several of them. Consider using “Quick Edit”, you can use quick edit to edit one post or page at a time or multiple posts or pages.
To edit multiple posts or pages you first need to select each post/page you wish to edit by adding a check mark to each one. Then at the top of the list, change the drop-down menu to “edit” and click apply. You’ll then have the option to quickly edit some of the options in bulk, this includes allowing comments or not allowing comments to appear. It should look something like the image below:
Disable Comments From All New Posts & Pages
If you know that you don’t want to have comments turned on, you may wish to have them turned off be default. Under Settings/Discussion you can uncheck the 3rd box down “Allow people to post comments on new articles” and save the options.
Keep in mind this method doesn’t remove comments from posts or pages that have already been published.
