From where you guys get so correct info , i can’t even imagine
Really informative video on using Wordpress with an add-on domain. I use Hostgator for a lot of my sites and blogs because they have excellent customer service and good prices.
Thanks for the information. These days hosting company provide service for domain purchase. It is advisable to purchase domain name from your hosting company as it makes easy for us to setup the DNS
Thanks for the info. I previously set up a blog site using the system that you showed on the video. I have a question that I cannot find an answer for and maybe you can help me.
When we set up a blog as per the instruction in the video we enter out domain name such as "domain.com". I noticed that in the general settings of my blog site the URL address is http://domain.com and not http://www.domain.com. So in the settings I changed it to http://www.domain.com. I thought I was supposed to do that as most websites are www
The reason I am concerned is that recently I submitted my site to various directories and search engines. One of them called ScrubTheWeb informed me that they received a submission of my "http://domain.com (notice no www) and mentioned something about redirect to http://www.domain.com and also mentioned that some search engines ignore redirects.
Am I redirecting if I change my site url to www after I set up wp. Am I not supposed to do that, ie input www (I noticed that your site's URL is http://thewiseaffiliate.com)
Can you please help me understand this.
Thanks, Dita
That’s a good article about Video – Installing Wordpress On Hostgator Hosting Via Fantastico …. Thanks for the info.
Hi Dita,
I personally never type in www when visiting a web address. When ever I setup a blog I'll http://thewiseaffiliate.com for the "WordPress address (URL)" and "Blog address (URL)".
If someone typed in http://www.thewiseaffiliate.com the blog would auto redirect to http://thewiseaffiliate.com from what I understand.
Also ever page goolge indexed for this site doesn't have the www either.
I'll try find some more info on this for you.
Craig
Hi Craig,
Thank you for your response. I have now changed one of my sites to http://mysite.com and submitted this sitemap to Google and I'll see what happens. I am still at the beginning of my IM journey and it is my lack of knowledge that causes me to make these mistakes. I feel so foolish.

Another great video. When I first started using HostGator I avoided using fantastico because the version of WP was usually out of date but since WP added the auto update feature this has been a really quick and easy way to setup a blog.
